Supreme has joined forces with 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, the production company founded by entertainment titan Spike Lee and fellow filmmaker Monty Ross in 1979, for a fashion line featuring Lee’s films, Malcolm X and Clockers.

Named after the broken promise made to newly freed slaves following the Civil War, 40 Acres and a Mule is the production arm behind all of Lee’s documentary and feature films, iconic commercials (like his Air Jordan ads in the ’80s), and music videos (including Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power”). After finding major success in its first decade, the imprint launched an apparel line, which Lee eventually sold out of his Spike’s Joint retail outposts in New York and Los Angeles throughout the ’90s and beyond.

Championing the director’s monumental and multi-faceted career, Supreme’s 40 Acres collaboration features a varsity jacket, a baseball jersey, two T-shirts, and a six-panel hat inspired by Lee’s work. Among the standouts, the varsity jacket houses a circular 40 Acre patch and Supreme lettering on the chest, with a massive X across the back, nodding to Lee’s Denzel Washington-led film on the titular Black activist, Malcolm X.

Down the line, the baseball jersey hosts the same 40 Acres patch, with “Supreme” and “40” block letters on the back much like a player’s name and number. One T-shirt features a famous image of Lee holding a camera across the chest, while another pictures the same “X” motif. Rounding out the lineup, the cap is embroidered with Clockers iconography.
