When Selena Gomez is applying a “no-makeup” makeup look, she opts for a tinted moisturizer that offers a “little bit of coverage but not too much.” The same rule applies to a “no-makeup” manicure.
On April 19, the 32-year-old actor, singer, and beauty mogul showed off a week of spring 2025 outfits with varying levels of effort and drama. The looks ranged from a simple brown sweater and completely bare face to a chic denim ensemble with a dramatic winged liner and stacks of silver jewelry.
Somewhere in the middle, there was slide one, in which Gomez wore a white turtleneck and subtle makeup look while cuddled up with fiancé Benny Blanco at nondescript restaurant. Then there was her fur coat and butter yellow sweatpants combo with and skinny shades and a glossy lip, a high-low ensemble I will definitely be mimicking next time I’m feeling experimental. Though she only showed the bottom-half of her look in an Instagram story, I like to think that was, in fact, how she left the house that day.

The one thing all these looks had in common—aside from Gomez’s massive marquise engagement ring—was her nude, “no-makeup” manicure.
While Selena Gomez often inspires nail color trends with food-based names like “lavender milk” and “apple cider,” she knows her way around the bare nail trend. Just last month, she offered up a “rosy glow manicure” that delivered the same brightening glow from within one might achieve on their skin by applying one of Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Bouncy Blushes.
Her most recent naked nail look achieves a completely different effect. Instead of opting for a pinkish nude Gel-X base, she chose a polish that matched her skin tone more precisely, instantly elongating her fingers thanks to the color, as well as her nails’ classic oval shape.
However, whichever shade she chose did not offer so much coverage that it disguised the natural difference between her nail plate and the edge of her nail…Kind of like the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer she used in her “no makeup” makeup tutorial back in May 2022.
Essentially, the “no makeup” manicure is the perfect nail look for spring 2025, no matter what you’re wearing or how much actual makeup you decide to put on.
