Officers in Los Angeles are in pursuit of a driver on Friday night.
Police said the motorist is wanted for a robbery, which unconfirmed reports say might have been armed. There may be more than one suspect in the car.
According to Alhambra police, this chase started just before 10 p.m. when units identified the car as a suspect vehicle wanted in a Temple City robbery.
Units engaged in a pursuit, but soon backed off once the car started driving erratically.
The chase was seen going through downtown Los Angeles around 10 p.m.
At one point, the driver pulled over, and at least one passenger was seen getting out of the car before the chase resumed. The LAPD did not immediately confirm whether that passenger was detained.
The motorist was seen driving on mainly surface streets, swerving into oncoming lanes to get around cars and continuing through traffic lights. Pursuing officers were seen flashing their lights as the chase would approach pedestrians in crosswalks.
Sky5 is overhead.
KTLA’s Gil Leyvas reported hearing that officers were not engaging with PIT maneuvers as of 10:30 p.m. because the suspect(s) might be armed. Instead, police were working to establish a perimeter around the chase.
