Jenna Bush Hager is always looking to play matchmaker, especially when it comes to her former Today co-host Hoda Kotb. But she shared some interesting insight into her experience setting up Kotb with Lenny Kravitz when the elusive rockstar last stopped by the show in September 2024.
Bush Hager and Tyra Banks were gushing over Kravitz’s house tour in Architectural Digest when Banks noted, “Whenever I see him, Lenny looks so edgy [but] he is so normal, right?”
She continued, “It’s weird because he looks all like, ‘Hey what’s up, baby? How are you doing?’ But he’s like, ‘Hey! How’s your mom?’ He’s a dad.”
Bush Hager completely agreed with Banks’ observation. She said it reminded her of the time she tried to set Kotb up with Kravitz when he was last on the show, though it was quite an embarrassing moment for Kotb at the time.
“It’s so funny that you say that because I’ve never articulated that thought out loud,” Bush Hager said. “But there was a period where I was trying to set Hoda up with him because she like every other woman in the world finds him irresistible.”
She continued, “And he was on our show and he was wearing a mesh top and leather pants and I was trying to set them up. It was like I was setting my uncle up with Hoda.”
Banks jokingly called him “Uncle Lenny” as Bush Hager remarked, “He’s so normal.”
When Kravitz was last on the show, Bush Hager pointed out that Kotb also pulled out the leather pants in honor of his appearance. She then pointedly asked him, “Listen, I know you’re in a new chapter. Are you looking for love?”
Kravitz appeared to be stumped for a moment before he responded, “That’s an interesting question. I mean, always. Love is all there is.”
“Well, I know of an electric lady if you want her number,” Bush Hager responded. “She’s right here.” Kotb, who appeared embarrassed by the joke, tried to cut the moment short by interjecting and switching the subject.
