On April 16, police responded to a theft at a Ralphs grocery store at 615 West Channel Islands Boulevard at 1 p.m.

Arriving officers spotted Hernandez fleeing the area on his bicycle. When police approached, Hernandez jumped off his bike and allegedly threw the bike at police and struck one of the officers.

  • Assault on a peace officer
  • Trespassing in a water canal
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Three additional outstanding misdemeanor warrants

The officer who was struck suffered minor injuries. No other officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Anyone with additional information on the case can call Detective Sergeant Jesus Chavez at 805-986-6615 or email [email protected].
