Mobile game developer SuperPlay today officially launched its newest mobile title: Disney Solitaire, a licensed, free-to-play card game featuring a large roster of familiar Disney characters. It’s currently available to download on both iOS and Android, where it’s currently reached over 1 million pre-registrations before its official launch. Disney Solitaire is SuperPlay’s first game to launch since its acquisition by Playtika last year.

Disney Solitaire features TriPeaks Solitaire gameplay with a few twists, with over 75 Disney characters putting in appearances. According to SuperPlay, players can collect stars which they can then use to recreate scenes from classic Disney films. These include The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Frozen, Coco and Moana, among others.

SuperPlay CEO Gilad Almog told GamesBeat in an interview that the game was a dream come true for the studio’s artists: “We have kind of an issue when we started, because a lot of the artists in the other games started to to apply for roles in the in the Disney studio, because that was one of their that was their dream come true for forever, basically.”

A game for Disney adults

According to Almog, while the game is fairly universal in terms of gameplay, the target demographic is adults. “It’s a solitaire game, so that attracts adults to begin with. Then from those adults, any person who loves Disney and is nostalgic about it. That’s a target. I think every adult in the Western world, or maybe in the entire world, loves at least one Disney or two or three Disney IPs and loves to play solitaire… We’re excited about this and how big we think this can get, and how special it is for for adult Disney lovers to get a game into their hands that brings nostalgia.”

As for the House of Mouse, this is far from Disney’s first launch in the mobile sphere. From titles like Disney Dreamlight Valley to Disney Emoji Blitz, the company has seen a decent amount of success launching mobile-friendly titles.

Luigi Priore, VP, general manager at Disney and Pixar Games, said in a statement, “Disney Solitaire offers a delightful twist on TriPeaks Solitaire with the added magic of Disney and Pixar characters. SuperPlay’s talented artists have crafted a stunning new visual style, and combined with their mobile gaming expertise, deliver an engaging game that beautifully showcases the magic of classic Disney and Pixar films.”
