BEAMS Plus has unveiled “The Game Collection” with Japanese outdoor gear label Mountain Research, a refreshed take on vintage hunting gear adorned with asymmetrical patch pockets. In a coordinated range of matching shirts, shorts, and hats, Setsumasa Kobayashi’s label brings its playful performance-wear quirks to BEAMS Plus’s more traditional Western silhouettes.
Leading the collection is the new edition of Mountain Research’s Game Shirt, originally based on a vintage hunting shirt owned by Kobayashi. “I have been fascinated by hunting shirts with strange pocket arrangements for a long time,” Mountain Research founder Setsumasa Kobayashi says on the brand’s website. Indeed, his affinity remains in pockets of various sizes shown on the sleeves and body, culminating in the backside game pocket. The back also features woodland animal icons, including a rabbit, a deer, and a bear embroidered in a vertical composition.
The hunting shorts feature pockets surrounding the waistband for easy access and a comfortable, wide-leg fit for warmer weather. Finally, the bucket hats feature small pockets around the band, taking the utilitarian theme to the max. Each style is offered in a range of classic colors, including khaki green, white, and camel tan.
The BEAMS Plus x Mountain Research Game Collection is set for release on April 19 at the BEAMS Plus web store and select retail locations.
