Jimmy Carr Hosting ‘Am I The A**hole?’ Gameshow Based On Famous Subreddit

The notorious “Am I The A**hole?” subreddit is being turned into a gameshow for Comedy Central UK hosted by LOL: Last One Laughing UK’s Jimmy Carr. Jimmy Carr’s Am I The A**hole? will invite members of the public to come before the host and a panel of two other comedians to ask controversial questions. These questions will cover everything from jaw-dropping relationship disputes to the pettiest of family squabbles and stories of behaviors that are guaranteed to split opinion. The “Am I The A**hole?” sub-reddit is famous worldwide and uses the acronym AITA. The BBC mined Reddit in the past for its hit comedy Am I Being Unreasonable?, which is also a famous subreddit. Jimmy Carr’s Am I The A**hole? is being produced by STV Studios-owned Tuesday’s Child. The series will be filmed in late spring and is due to air later this year on Comedy Central UK. Carr said: “There are an impressive number of a**holes in our country and they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve on national television.”

Netflix Wales Boom Makes $265M For UK Economy – Report

Watch on Deadline

Projects like Tom Hardy’s upcoming Havoc and Sex Education have led Netflix to generate more than £200M ($265M) for the UK economy over the last five years, according to a new report. Havoc is the largest feature film ever shot entirely in Wales and will also be available in Welsh-language subtitles. Directed by Gareth Evans, it stars Hardy as a bruised detective who must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son. The Netflix and Creative Wales research found that Havoc along with shows like Sex Education, The Crown and The Witcher had helped contribute to the £200M figure, although it didn;t break this down by year. Anna Mallet, Vice President of Production, UK, Netflix, said: “Blessed with incredible creative talent and beautiful natural landscapes, Wales is an amazing place to make entertainment, so Netflix is delighted that our Welsh productions can continue to create such enduring cultural and economic opportunities”.

WildBrain $28M Channels Sale Stalls After Bell DisputeCanada’s WildBrain has hit a snag in the C$40M ($28M) sale of its linear channels to Nova Scotia’s IoM Media Ventures. The company has provided investors with an update, saying a carriage dispute with Bell Media would lead to the cable service removing Family Channel Family Jr, WildBrainTV and Téléimagino from its platform. This has, in turn, hit the value of the IoM deal, with renegotiations beginning to save the agreement. “Bell’s decision to remove the Channels from its distribution service will require us to revise certain aspects of the transaction with IoM, but we are optimistic we can arrive at a deal that works for both of us,” said WildBrain President and CEO Josh Scherba.

India’s Bodhitree Multimedia Launches Digital IP Division

Bodhitree Multimedia is the latest Indian production house to push into the YouTube and digital content space. The company has created a new division, Bodhi Tree Ventures, which will focus on digital content monetization, building and managing IP across platforms. Industry veteran Supid Roy has been hired to run the unit as Chief Revenue Officer, having previously held leadership roles at Star News, Zee, Neo Sports, Network18 and TCM. “This new division marks a pivotal shift in our journey — from being content creators to becoming owners and monetizers of scalable digital IPs,” said Bodhitree Multimedia Managing Director Mautik Tolia. “This is an evolution toward owning and building a future-focused revenue model.”
