An Internationally Loved Coca-Cola Is Now on Shelves at Costco

Key Takeaways

  • Costco is now offering a 24-pack variety bundle of three internationally-made sodas.

  • These Coca-Cola products are all sweetened without high fructose corn syrup.

  • Each soda is bottled in a 12-oz glass bottle, and the full pack is available at Costco for $35.69.

We love when Coca-Cola introduces fun new flavors and products into its ever-expanding drink lineup, but there’s nothing better than going back to the classics. And we don’t just mean Coca-Cola Classic—we’re talking about the real original recipe.

That very first version, the one created in 1886 and whose formula is still famously kept under lock and key in Atlanta, Georgia, isn’t quite the same as what you’d sip from a McDonald’s cup or pick up from your local grocery store today.

Over the course of its 125-plus-year history, Coca-Cola has undergone a few significant changes—especially when it comes to sweeteners. Back in the day, sugar was just sugar—and that’s exactly what was used to sweeten the bubbly drink.

But these days, “sugar” can mean anything from high fructose corn syrup to maltodextrin. There are more—and cheaper—ways to achieve a sweet taste, so U.S. soda producers eventually made the switch to high fructose corn syrup in the ’80s.

So, while we’ve pretty much lost the magic of the original Coca-Cola in the U.S., there’s one place where you can still get a taste of it: Mexico. If you’ve ever heard someone rave about “Mexican Coke,” this is what they were talking about.

What Is Mexican Coke?

Coca-Cola de México, or Mexican Coke, isn’t beloved just because it comes in a tall, glass bottle. It’s made and bottled in Mexico—one of the few places that still produces Coca-Cola with real cane sugar. And trust us, it makes a difference.

There’s also a notable difference in sodium content. A 355-milliliter bottle of Mexican Coke contains about 85 milligrams of sodium, nearly double what you’ll find in a typical American can. That extra salt likely helps balance out the sweetness, creating a more rounded, crisp flavor.

Mexican Coke is treated as a novelty almost everywhere in the U.S.—and now, it’s even easier to get your hands on.

Coca-Cola Mexican Soda Variety Pack Is Now at Costco

Costco is now carrying the Coca-Cola Fiesta Variety Pack, a 24-bottle bundle of Mexican-made sodas, including the cult-favorite Mexican Coke. Each one is sweetened with real cane sugar and packaged in classic 355-milliliter (12 fl oz) glass bottles.

The pack includes:

  • 6 bottles of Orange Fanta

We spotted the bundle at just the right time, too—Mexican Coke happens to be the star ingredient in our new favorite summer cocktail: the batanga. Although to be honest, we’re just as happy sipping any of these straight from the bottle.

The full 24-pack sells for $35.69. While that might seem a little steep, it breaks down to about $1.50 per bottle—not bad when you consider the imported ingredients and classic packaging.

Besides, as one Redditor put it: “You’re not just buying soda; you’re investing in nostalgia, perfectly calibrated sweetness, and glass bottle clout.” And if that’s what it costs to experience Coca-Cola the way it was always meant to taste, we’ll gladly pay up.
