After growing up on one of the most popular sci-fi series of the past decade, Finn Wolfhard is bracing for the beginning of the end.
The Stranger Things star recently teased his character Mike Wheeler’s conclusion in the upcoming fifth and final season of the Duffer Brothers series, premiering on Netflix in 2025, which left him “satisfied” and “confused,” among other emotions.
“I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy,” he told People, adding that the experience filming the finale “was definitely a lot.”

“I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect,” added Wolfhard.
Now 22, Wolfhard was 13 when he began playing Mike on Stranger Things, which debuted in 2016. He’s since grown up onscreen with co-stars Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink.
Reflecting on the finale, Wolfhard said he “just couldn’t believe it at all,” adding: “It didn’t really start to go into focus until the next day. It was like an emotional hangover. But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone.”
While teasing the final season in January, co-creator and executive producer Ross Duffer said, “We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies.”
“We think it’s our most personal story,” added Matt Duffer. “It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was SO much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen.”
