From 9 a.m. till noon on April 26, HPD said it is joining Partnership for a Drug-Free Community and other community partners for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
This event is a free, no-questions-asked opportunity for people to dispose of potentially dangerous medications and help prevent misuse. It is also to help prevent drug overdoses, both accidental and purposeful, as well as to keep the chemicals in these drugs from getting into public water systems.
You can drop off medications safely & conveniently at any of the following drive-thru locations:
- Huntsville Public Safety Complex – 815 Wheeler Ave. NW
- Madison City Hall – 100 Hughes Rd.
- CVS Meridianville – 12275 U.S. 231
The Drug Enforcement Administration said this day reflects how the organization wants to help the public remove unneeded medications from homes to prevent misuse.
The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat.
DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.DEA website
