There’s always a good excuse to buy a new purse. You have a new event coming up that you need to match the vibes. Or Easter is around the corner, and you need something spring-y to match your outfit. And when the bags are as affordable as they are at Aldi, you don’t even really need an excuse, to be honest. If you’re in the market for a new purse (because why not?), Aldi is dropping three rattan crossbody bag styles that are so chic. Plus they look a lot like designer styles—such as Bembien and J. Crew—which are up to 25 times the price.
From April 16 to April 22, Aldi will be selling their LIVE IN STYLE Rattan Crossbody Bag for $9.99 in the Aldi Finds section of local U.S. stores (while supplies last). They come in three styles and colors, but they are all crossbody purses, as their name suggests. They’re also all made with rattan as the body of the purse; rattan is a material made from vine-like palm leaves. They give off a look that’s similar to wicker or reeds. The rattan on these crossbody bags is in a net-like design, leaving holes to see through the bag.

Again, they come in three different styles: a black belt bag, a round white bag and a brown mini tote bag. First off is the mini brown tote bag, which is actually more like a bucket tote bag. It has a flat bottom and tall sides and a zippered opening at the top. The edges of the opening are brown along with the strap and handles. The material of the top handles extends down the sides of the bag, too, giving it a stylish design.

Then there’s the black belt bag. It has the shape of a fanny pack, but the crossbody strap allows you to put it across your chest, and not just your waist (if that works for you). The edges and strap are black.
And lastly, there’s the round white bag, which has two sides shaped like a circle, connected with fabric to make a round purse. This one is definitely a lovely aesthetic and stands out. The edges and strap are white.
The shoulder strap on all three styles of this bag is adjustable as well as detachable, and they all have a zippered main compartment.
Mini Sling – Rattan, $250 at Bembien
As we mentioned before, these Aldi crossbody rattan bags are very similar to others out there, including Bembien’s Mini Sling – Rattan bag. It currently costs $250 and comes in the same three colors as Aldi’s: black, copper (or brown) and white.
The shape of this one doesn’t exactly match Aldi’s, but the general design is so similar. Both sides of this purse are made from rattan in a net-like design, so you can see through the bag. The edges then have a leather-like material that matches the color of the strap. This one just happens to be in a “sling” shape.
Berkeley Bucket Bag in Faux Raffia and Leather, $116.50 (originally $198) at J. Crew
And lastly, J. Crew sells an even similar back to Aldi’s with their Berkeley Bucket Bag in Faux Raffia and Leather. It’s currently on sale for $116.50 (it was originally $198) and comes in two colors: English Saddle Ivory and Black Natural.
While this one is made with raffia, not rattan, the style of the raffia is nearly identical to Aldi’s. This bucket bag is also very similar to Aldi’s mini tote bag, down to the brown edges and handle. The main difference is the fact that J. Crew’s doesn’t have two handles and a strap and this one is larger with a bigger bottom. But the similarities are striking.
So if you’re interested in perusing Aldi for some new purses to match your spring outfits, their Live In Style Rattan Crossbody Bags are worth checking out. Even for just the price alone.
