DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man has been identified after a deadly shooting took place in DeKalb County on Thursday.
According to authorities, Dekalb County 911 received a call in the 3000 block of US Highway117 in Mentone regarding a vehicle that had hit a home.
The caller told authorities that the man inside the vehicle had also been shot.
Upon arrival, first responders rendered immediate aid to the the man who was identified as Adam Battles, 38, of Mentone.
Deputies then secured the scene and the Dekalb County Criminal Investigation Unit responded along with Jacksonville State University’s Center for Applied Forensics. Mr. Battles’ death was ruled a homicide.
The Mentone Police, Dekalb County Deputies, Dekalb Ambulance Service, and Mentone Fire & Rescue all responded to the scene.
