A juvenile male in Orange County has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old man was found in his apartment with a fatal stab wound earlier this week, officials announced.
The violence unfolded at the Mosaic Apartment complex in the 27000 block of Camden in Mission Viejo just before 2 p.m. on April 9, according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department posted to Instagram.
The victim, now identified as 21-year-old Cristopher Bahenbaylon, was discovered by a family member bleeding on the couch inside the apartment.
Deputies located the young man who was suffering from an apparent stab wound to the chest, and attempted life-saving measures until medical personnel with the O.C. Fire Authority arrived and declared the victim deceased, sheriff’s officials said.
Investigators quickly established a perimeter in the area and located physical evidence that indicated a juvenile suspect who also lived in the apartment complex.
Video of the scene obtained by KTLA showed a heavy presence of deputies and investigators, some of whom were speaking to two women who appeared to be residents of the complex.
Another person was seen in the backseat of a sheriff’s patrol cruiser, though it’s unclear if that was the juvenile suspect.
“Based on interviews conducted by investigators and the evidence at the scene, the juvenile male was arrested and booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall,” the release detailed.
No further information about the incident, including a possible motive for the fatal stabbing, was provided.
