The Pitt Episode 14 “8 PM” on MAX ends with yet another gut punch for fans. The cops have arrived at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital and they’re not there for troubled teen David (Jackson Kelly) or the dirtbag reporter who snuck into the ED; they’re there to arrest Dr. Cassie McKay (Fiona Dourif) for tampering with her ankle monitor during the mass casualty event.

**Spoilers for The Pitt Episode 14 “8 PM,” now streaming on MAX**

Viewers of The Pitt will remember that medical student Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) discovered all the way back at the start of the season that McKay had an ankle monitor, suggesting prior criminal behavior. We later learned it stemmed from a fight McKay had with her ex’s obnoxious girlfriend (and “Bonus Mom” t-shirt owner) Chloe (Jonetta Kaiser).

“There was a specific incident that caused the ankle monitor that I think is pretty teased out,” The Pitt star Fiona Dourif told DECIDER. “It’s very clear in my head.”

“I think it was bullshit. Unfair and quite embarrassing. I think that’s basically how McKay thinks about it.”

When McKay’s ankle monitor starts malfunctioning in the middle of the mass casualty event, it causes stress and consternation for everyone around her. Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) even says the noise is making it impossible for him to think.

McKay then uses an EZ IO drill to break it so everyone can continue to work.

“Are you gonna to get in trouble for that?” Whitaker (Gerran Howell) asks.

“Probably,” is all McKay says in reply.

Well, not even an hour later, and trouble has found McKay. Two police officers arrive at the hospital and promptly place McKay under arrest. So does this mean Dr. McKay is going to jail? Here’s what you need to know about the end of The Pitt Episode 14 “8 PM”…

The Pitt Episode 14 “8 PM” Ending Explained: Is Dr. McKay Going to Jail?

When DECIDER spoke with Pitt star Fiona Dourif last week, we asked her how worried fans should be about the potential for Dr. McKay to wind up in prison in the finale.

“Um, they should be very worried about everybody,” Dourif said. “Yeah, I mean, you’ll find in episode 15, a lot of knots are tied with every character, actually.”

“I thought that script was my favorite of all of them that were written. I think [showrunner R.]Scott Gemmell did an incredible job of writing in, I would say, frustration, humiliation, and resolve for McKay.”

So no spoilers here, but it definitely does not look good for Dr. McKay right now. There are multiple witnesses who saw her tamper with her ankle monitor. That said, those same witnesses saw her doing so to save lives.

You’ll have to tune in to next week’s Season 1 finale for The Pitt to find out what happens next to McKay, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), and the rest of the crew…
