The Arizona Diamondbacks and Ketel Marte are reportedly nearing a contract extension worth over $100 million.
According to MLB insider Mike Rodriguez, a deal is not complete as of now. However, the sides are closing in on an agreement.

Marte entered Tuesday’s game hitting .333 in the early stages of this season. The two-time All-Star slashed .292/.372/.560 in 136 games last season for the Diamondbacks.
The 31-year-old infielder has only gotten better with age as he has combined to produce over 10 WAR in his last two full big-league seasons.
This extension comes at an interesting time as Marte has three years left on his current deal plus a club option in 2028. It is likely his extension would pay him more on a yearly basis than he is currently making.
An extension of this magnitude indicates the Diamondbacks firmly believe they have built a contender that can challenge the Dodgers for the National League West. Arizona missed the playoffs in 2024 but came up just short in the World Series in 2023 against the Texas Rangers.
Marte will be a valuable piece to the puzzle for years to come for the Diamondbacks’ core alongside Corbin Carroll, Josh Naylor, and Corbin Burnes.
