EXCLUSIVE: Jaclyn Philpott is leaving her role as Executive Director of the Association Of Film Commissioners International. She was named as leader of the industry org in late 2022. She’ll vacate the position at end-April.

The LA-based AFCI’s search for a replacement is underway. The job spec outlines the role and details responsibilities including being the AFCI’s primary spokesperson and fundraiser and overseeing staff operations. The Exec Director reports to the Board, and the Chair is their immediate supervisor.

The AFCI is a membership network of film commissions, which marks its fiftieth anniversary this year. Marnie Gee of the British Colombia Film Commission was elected AFCI Chair last year for a two-year term.

The org hosts various conferences and networking events at the big international film markets. It has organized a Global Film Commission Network Summit, which will be held during the Cannes Film Festival, within the Marché du Film. Its annual Cineposium will be held in Cincinnati this year, running 15-18 September.

Philpott confirmed the news of her departure. “I’ve valued my time with AFCI, where over the past two years I’ve achieved important milestones, strengthened the organization’s foundation, and advanced the strategic plan developed in 2023; I’ve now decided to pursue new professional opportunities but remain committed to supporting AFCI’s continued progress,” she told Deadline in an email exchange.

Highlighting accomplishments during her stint running the AFCI, Philpot has cited achievements including a 27% uptick in membership and an increase in revenues, as well as securing funding for a digital transformation initiative.
