‘The View’ Erupts Into Heated Argument About Democrat “Infighting” After Chuck Schumer’s Divisive Vote

The fight that began Monday on The View has now spilled over into Wednesday. The ladies can’t seem to agree on the controversial vote made by House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer last week in which he backed a G.O.P. spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.

While the ladies first argued about Schumer’s divisive move on March 17, the even had him on the show yesterday — and they’re still talking about it now. During today’s chat, they discussed Nancy Pelosi‘s remarks that she would never “give away anything for nothing” like she accused Schumer of doing.

Alyssa Farah Griffin — who supported Schumer’s decision to vote for the G.O.P. bill — called out Pelosi for throwing Schumer under the bus and said she was stunned to see ongoing “infighting” within the Democratic party over Schumer’s vote.

Meanwhile, Joy Behar agreed that she was “sick” of seeing Democrats fighting with each other, and emotionally declared that they need to fight for the American people instead of attacking on another. However, Sunny Hostin had a different take, suggesting that Dems aren’t fighting with each other, but are “not fighting a unified fight.”

Behar defiantly interrupted, “No, they are! The fact that Nancy is now out there criticizing Schumer? Stop it already,” but Hostin stood firm in her condemnation of Schumer’s vote.

“He should have been fighting for the people of America that are feeling the way that they are feeling,” she declared, claiming that people approach her “every day” and say they “don’t feel like the party is fighting for them.”

She once again accused Schumer of “caving” to the G.O.P. and passing up an opportunity to fight, and as she passionately argued her point, Behar eventually gave up, saying, “OK, alright!” and throwing her hands up.

But while Behar tapped out, Sara Haines was ready to rumble, taking on Hostin with her own argument in support of Schumer’s vote.

“It would have been worse if he didn’t concede,” she said, suggesting that Schumer “gave cover” to democrats who “probably knew their voters would backlash if they shut the government down.”

An exasperated Hostin interjected, “He gave coverage to the G.O.P. to do whatever they heck they wanted to do!”

But Haines was ready to fight back, telling her, “He didn’t! Nobody is fooling themselves. It’s a minority, they don’t have the math. It’s just basic math. There are facts there, it’s not an opinion.”

Will the fight continue tomorrow? At this rate, we’re betting yes.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
