Sean Lowe’s weekend took a terrifying turn when he was viciously attacked by his rescue dog, Moose, more than once.
In a video alongside his wife, Catherine Lowe, posted on Instagram Monday, March 17, Sean, 41, opened up about the traumatic incident that unfolded on Thursday. While hosting a barbecue with friends, Sean was trying to manage smoke from a fire alarm when Moose, a rescue dog the family adopted just a few months prior, suddenly became aggressive, biting the towel and nipping the Bachelor alum’s finger.
“I kind of gave him a, ‘No, Moose,’ Sean recalled. “He shows his teeth at me and just attacks me. I don’t mean bite and then run off — like a lot of dogs do when they’re scared or defensive — I mean attacks me,” he continued before mentioning how he managed to get the dog outside. Unfortunately, the dog was able to get back inside, and what followed was a brutal attack that left the reality star with deep cuts on his arms, including a very severe one where he could see “blood squirting probably a couple feet.”
Despite Sean’s efforts to fight off the dog, he was bitten multiple times, first on his feet, then on his arm. “It felt like I was fighting for my life,” he admitted. Thankfully, Sean’s friends rushed him to the ER where he received stitches.
The attack wasn’t over, though. Sean recounted how the following day, Moose came back for yet another attack after escaping from the yard. He described how he was able to tackle the dog, fully aware his life was in danger. “I’ve got a hold of his collar, but I know that he’s ripped my arm open… I feel like if this dog gets up, he is going to kill me,” Sean said. The police arrived minutes later and Sean once again returned to the ER for stitches.
The family later decided that they could no longer keep Moose due to the dangerous nature of the incident, though Sean emphasized that the dog’s behavior wasn’t his fault. “He had a lot of trauma before we got him,” he shared.
As of right now, it is unclear what the Lowe’s did with their dog. The comments were also disabled on the Instagram post.
