Hollywood “super connector” Michael Kives celebrated his 44th birthday on Saturday night in Los Angeles with guests including Bill and Hillary Clinton, David Geffen, Barry Diller, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson — and that was just at one table, we hear.
Also at that starry table, sources said, were producers Jason Blum and Brad Falchuk, Blum’s screenwriter wife, Lauren Schuker, fashion designer Misha Nonoo and her oil heir hubby, Mikey Hess, celebrity stylist Jamie Mizrahi and her investor husband, Nico Mizrahi, and Karlie Kloss and Josh Kushner.
VIPs mixing at the black-tie party also included Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, celeb jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer and “Nobody Wants This” masterminds Sara and Erin Foster.
Kives’ investment firm, K5 Global, was sued for $700 million by convicted fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried’s bankrupt crypto exchange FTX.
Bankman-Fried, who allegedly paid K5 with misappropriated funds, called Kives “probably the most connected person I’ve ever met.”
When the suit was settled in January, FTX CEO John Ray said: “It is clear that K5 is a bright spot in the FTX portfolio, and the expected strong performance of their investments will be a key driver in the recovery efforts for our stakeholders.”
K5 co-founders Kives and Bryan Baum said in a joint statement at the time: “We appreciate the extraordinary professionalism and collaboration of John Ray and are grateful to have reached this settlement. We are proud of the role that K5 will play in the recovery process for all FTX stakeholders.”
Kives, who was an aide to Hillary Clinton when she was a senator, became a CAA agent with clients including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He launched K5 in 2018, and the firm has investments in companies including Elon Musk’s SpaceX and the Boring Company as well as Lyft, Uber, Coinbase and Klutch AI. A rep for K5 did not get back to us.
Kives is still one of Hollywood’s most connected players.
He was spotted at the Vanity Fair Oscars party schmoozing with Perry, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez. And in 2023, we reported that he went to a Perry concert and sat with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Wall Street billionaire Ken Griffin.
