The Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase have agreed to a record-breaking contract extension. Chase gets a four-year deal worth $161 million.

BREAKING: The #Bengals have agreed to a 4-year, $161M extension with WR Ja’Marr Chase and a 4-year, $115M extension with WR Tee Higgins, per @Schultz_Report.Chase is the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, while Higgins becomes the highest-paid WR2. pic.twitter.com/1G5vFa6Ait

James Rapien of Sports Illustrated was the first to report that the deals were basically done.

Cincinnati was adamant that the deal for Chase would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback and they stuck to their word.

Chase now gets his wish and will stay in Cincinnati for the long haul. The star wide-out is determined to help the Bengals get over the jump and finally win a Super Bowl.

Playing alongside quarterback Joe Burrow, Chase has emerged as one of the best wide receivers in the game and completely balled out this past season/

Chase posted 127 catches for 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns for Cincinnati. This helped him secure one of the biggest contracts in NFL history following the long negotiations.

With Chase now locked up for the next few years, the Bengals are fully focused on going after a title. The former No. 5 overall pick has only gotten better each season and it seems like he has another gear that he can go to, something that should scare opposing teams.

Since being drafted Chase has been a problem for defenses. Through his four years in the NFL, Chase has put up 395 catches for 5,425 yards and 46 touchdowns.

The Bengals prioritized signing Chase long-term over co-star Tee Higgins. But Cincinnati understands that having both offensive weapons gives them the best chance to win at the highest level.

Chase and Higgins allow the Bengals to have one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL. This also puts excess pressure on defenses to have to scheme against Cincinnati and it somewhat becomes a pick-your-poison type of situation.

The former LSU product is here to stay in Cincinnati and now the Bengals can put this big distraction behind them. The Bengals have more needs that they have to deal with if they truly want to contend for a championship this coming season.
