A mini-game on Today With Jenna & Friends did not go according to plan for Jenna Bush Hager and her celebrity guest host of the week, Dwayne Wade.

The hosts were tasked with helping guest Chrissy Teigen name famous Hollywood parents from their clues. But after Bush Hager embarrassingly mixed up Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross, Wade had a mix-up of his own that left him feeling admittedly “awful.”

Wade had the challenge of helping Teigen guess celebrity fathers. But when Will Smith came up, the only clue he could think of offering Teigen was, “He’s famous for slapping somebody,” clearly referring to the 2022 Oscars when Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage.

Hilariously enough, Teigen guessed he was referring to Rock, prompting Wade to clarify, “He did the hit of Chris Rock.” After she finally got it correct, he added, “There you go. He did a lot of other things, too.”

At the end of the game, Wade expressed him remorse to Bush Hager, who could not hold back her laughter.

“The clues that are coming to mind are crazy! Will Smith has done so much, the only thing I can think of is the slap. That’s crazy,” he said before walking off set.

“I feel awful,” he added. “Is this live?”

Bush Hager commiserated with her guest host, while Teigen dismissed it. “Whatever,” she said after Bush Hager admitted they “all feel bad now.”

Smith certainly has accomplished a lot. After slapping Rock at the 2022 Oscars, he went on to receive the first Academy Award of his decades-long career that evening for King Richard. He also notably starred in Bad Boys II with Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, in 2003. The stars played love interests in the adventure-comedy.

Wade has had quite the eventful week on Today With Jenna & Friends. Though his time is coming to an end this Friday, Wade has already expressed that he doesn’t want to leave.

“My days are going too fast,” he admitted during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, which Today featured on this morning’s episode. “I don’t wanna say this but I wanna say this, I don’t want to go.”

Bush Hager told Wade on Today, “We don’t want you to go! Listen, this chair’s open. We’ve had the best time.”

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
