Netflix‘s American Manhunt miniseries was scheduled to premiere this week with a new installment chronicling the global pursuit for Osama bin Laden, but it appears the series has been inexplicably delayed.
Directed by Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan, the three-part documentary series American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden dives into the decade-long hunt for bin Laden after the September 11 attacks on the United States. Key figures – including CIA insiders and top advisors for President Obama – involved in the global search for the extremist are also featured as they recount how they took down one of the world’s most notorious terrorists.
On May 2, 2011, President Obama and his top officials watched on as Seal Team 6 invaded bin Laden’s compound in Abottabad, Pakistan, and fatally shot him. No Americans were lost in the mission. As Rob O’Neill of Seal Team 6 says in the doc, “We accepted death on this mission but it’s nice to live,” per Time.
American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden would be the third installment of Netflix’s American Manhunt series, which dives into the most notorious crimes and ensuing manhunts in American history.
American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden delayed:
American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden was scheduled to premiere March 10 on Netflix.
But the documentary series has been indefinitely delayed; Netflix’s Tudum notes the series “is coming soon to Netflix,” with no confirmed date attached.
The American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden Netflix-set release date would have coincided with Osama bin Laden’s birthday, March 10.
When is the new American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden Netflix release date?
A Netflix rep confirmed to Decider that the documentary is being rescheduled, but a confirmed premiere date has not been announced yet.
For now, true crime fans can tune into the previous editions of American Manhunt, including American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson and American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing.
