So, who really killed Laura Palmer? Maybe it was fashion’s excess. For the Fall/Winter 2025 runway, Paris-based sustainable designer Marine Serre paid tribute to the great late director David Lynch. Models emerged from claustrophobic blood red curtains and walked across a checkered floor, a clear recreation of Twin Peaks’ famous red room.
Like Lynch, each piece was filled with subtle subversions. Since its conception, the brand has established itself as a pillar in the conversation surrounding sustainable fashion and environmental protection. As a result, Marine Serre uses upcycling to deconstruct and rebuild clothing’s identities.
The runway opened with an armor-like catsuit embossed with the brand’s signature moon logo. The ensuing leather looks offered a glossy editorial polish that hid sharpness just beneath the surface. Though many of the looks relied on solid black, white, red, and mid-wash upcycled denim, two were accented by a tiger print bodysuit under-layer. In the most Lynchian dreamscape of the looks, a red mesh logo head-to-toe bodysuit was covered by a structured corset with exaggerated hip pads.
The collection was also filled with unusual contrasts. A mini bodycon dress made entirely of watch bands was the collection’s standout upcycled garment, while a belted fur coat and fuzzy stoles nodded to a more mature old-moneyed aesthetic.
Though the collection presented a wide range of identities, from Laura Palmer’s dream demons to the respectable rich town folk, each character in the procession possessed an overall sense of refinement.
