In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Bocci, the renowned multidisciplinary design studio known for its innovative lighting and sculptural works, is set to debut two new lighting concepts: the 141 and 14 Pyramid. These pieces will be showcased in a large-scale site-specific installation in New York City, marking a new chapter in the studio’s exploration of materials and form.

The 141 light fixture embodies a refined approach to Bocci’s signature experimental design process. Under the creative direction of Omer Arbel, it’s crafted using a single-action glass-pouring technique. Unlike Bocci’s past designs, which often involve intricate layering and manipulation, 141 takes a more reductive approach. Two ladles of molten glass are freehand-poured over a curved rod, creating overlapping pools. As the glass is lifted, it swings into an organic, unpredictable shape, balancing spontaneity with meticulous craftsmanship.

The 14 Pyramid is a new take on Bocci’s foundational 14 series that was first introduced in 2005. Developed in collaboration with David Alhadeff of The Future Perfect, this iteration features a geometric arrangement that redefines Bocci’s proprietary suspension system. It challenges conventional lighting installations, creating a structured yet fluid composition that plays with light and shadow.

Building on the legacy of the original 14, the 14 Pyramid reinforces Bocci’s commitment to lighting that is both functional and sculptural. Its pyramid formation adds an architectural dimension to the collection, offering a versatile solution for contemporary interiors seeking an avant-garde aesthetic.

Visit Bocci’s website for more information on the installations.
