Vybz Kartel is officially scheduled to perform his first US show in more than 20 years.
The dancehall king announced that he will be taking the stage of Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 11 following the reinstatement of his US and UK visas at the end of January. Kartel shared his gratitude in being able to perform Stateside again, “This is a monumental moment for me and the culture. To be back on U.S. soil performing for my fans is a blessing that I don’t take lightly. The wait is finally over. New York, get ready.”
CJ Milan, CEO and Founder of presenter Reggae Fest, added, “This is going to be the biggest dancehall concert in U.S. history. To be at Barclays Center with the biggest dancehall artist in the world is epic! It’s about time dancehall gets the recognition it deserves. I’m very excited to have Vybz Kartel for his first U.S. show.”
Kartel stepped on US soil for the first time over two decades earlier this February, attending the GRAMMY Awards as a nominee under the Best New Reggae Album category. He also made a special appearance and performance at the MOBO Awards in England, and will perform at London’s Wireless Festival.
Ticket presale begins March 4, followed by a general sale on March 6.
