Have no fear, Bachelor Nation. Hometown Week is here!
During Season 28, Episode 6, The Bachelor‘s Season 29 lead Grant Ellis travels across the country to meet the families, friends, and loved ones of his four remaining contestants: Juliana Pasquarosa, Zoe McGrady, Litia Garr, and Dina Lupancu.
Despite one family dramatically opting out of process, Grant’s Hometown Week was filled with acceptance, love, and crucial conversations that gave him the clarity he needed ahead of Fantasy Suite Week.
As we learned throughout his season, Grant lacked the big, close, happy family he dreamed of growing up. He’s been incredibly open about his desire for a family of his own throughout this journey, and with some help from Bachelor Season 28 lead Joey Graziadei, Grant makes his toughest decision yet in pursuit of that family.
Looking for a recap of The Bachelor Season 29, Episode 6? Wondering who got a rose? Who went home after Hometown Dates? And who’s headed to Fantasy Suite Week?
Decider’s The Bachelor Season 29, Episode 6 recap breaks down Grant’s biggest Hometown Week moments.
Juliana Pasquarosa‘s Hometown Date Recap: Wolfpack Or Die
Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Juliana’s Key Hometown Date Guests: Her parents, her “wolfpack,” her sister Dominique, multiple aunts/uncles/first cousins/second cousins (one literally named Cousin Vinny), and a dog named Charlie.
Juliana showed Grant around the Little Italy of Newton, where even the fire hydrants are painted to rep the Italian flag. First stop? A pizza place where she and Grant whipped up pies for her family. After stopping by some shops and making a gorgeous flower bouquet, the two ended their day at a pastry shop where they Lady & The Tramp-ed a cannoli in a nod to Juliana’s limo exit. Before meeting Juliana’s family, she warned Grant that it was her first time bringing a guy home in around seven years. Since her last relationship took her to “a pretty low low,” her family would also be super protective. After she rattled off a giant list of around 30 loved ones who Grant would be meeting, the Season 29 lead was admittedly nervous, but he loved that people wanted to show up for her.
Grant knows Italian dads can be incredibly protective of their daughters (something Bachelor Nation learned with Maria’s dad), but in an unexpected twist, Juliana’s father and fam welcomed Grant with open arms. During a backyard bash, Juliana had a heart-to-heart with her sister and revealed that she knows Grant is her guy. Grant told Juliana’s mom that he and her daughter have similar life stories, and he told her dad that he sees Juliana as a partner and respects him for keeping his family together.
The intimidating “Did you just kiss my daughter?!” Juliana’s dad said in previews was a joke. In reality, though he worried about the three remaining women, Juliana’s dad fully accepted Grant and gave his daughter his overwhelming approval. Grant and Juliana ended the night with a major sense relief and renewed feelings for each other. Grant told her he’s falling for her and Juliana was on top of the world, but she feared the dates still to come.
Zoe McGrady‘s Hometown Date Recap: Manifesting A Proposal
Location: New York City, New York
Zoe’s Key Hometown Date Guests: Her sister Faith, her Aunt Cherise and Uncle Dave, and her best friends.
Though Zoe didn’t grow up in New York, it’s the place that feels most like home to her, so she and Grant spent the day seeing some sights ahead of the main event: a modeling shoot. Since Zoe felt out of her element throughout her Bachelor journey, she wanted Grant to see her in her comfort zone. Since modeling is such a huge part of Zoe’s life, she teamed up with Brides magazine and a wedding photographer to shoot proposal, engagement, and wedding pics with Grant. (We see you manifesting, girl.) After a “surreal” shoot, the two headed up to the roof for a deep chat, where Zoe told Grant that he wouldn’t be meeting her adoptive parents, who are no longer a part of her life.
“There was many vices, and I gave a lot of chances,” Zoe said. “The door’s open for them, but at this point in my life they’re not in it.” Though Zoe cut ties with her adoptive parents a year ago, her sister, aunt and uncle, and friends were there to warmly welcome Grant.
After sharing their whirlwind of a journey, the two split up for one-on-one chats. Zoe told her aunt and uncle that Grant is the type of strong and supportive man she needs. But during an emotional heart-to-heart with her sister, Zoe encouraged her to press Grant on why she never got a one-on-one date. Grant said that Zoe’s vulnerability throughout the process was all he needed to see, and that her estranged relationship with her parents doesn’t scare him at all. Overall, the day went well and both Grant and Zoe got crucial questions answered — they just hoped their connection didn’t spark too late in the game…
Litia Garr‘s Hometown Date Recap: A Mormon Family Affair
Location: Star Valley, Wyoming
Litia’s Key Hometown Date Guests: Her parents Rob and Maurie, brothers Ethan and Jackson, grandpa Jerry, a bunch of aunts/uncles/cousins/kids. (You thought Juliana’s crowd of 30 was bit? Around 40 of Litia’s loved ones came out.)
From the city to the country, Grant anxiously headed to Wyoming to meet Litia’s family. But first? Horseback riding. Though Litia isn’t from Wyoming, it’s one of many places she calls home, so the two “cowboyed up” and had deep chats ahead of the big meet-and-greet. Litia reminded Grant that he’d be the first non-Mormon person she dated/brought home. Though Grant’s feelings for her were strong, he admittedly feared her family wouldn’t accept him.
Much to Grant’s delight, his fears weren’t necessary! A massive group of Litia’s loved ones excitedly met them outside for a day full of games, food, and good conversation. Litia’s father told Grant he was just as overwhelmed when he met his wife’s huge family. He also assured Grant that they’d accept him and his own family wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, Litia and her grandpa had a precious heart-to-heart about her late grandmother and how her family warmly accepted her late biological father.
With no plans to sleep with Grant and fears that he’d be intimate with other women during Fantasy Suites, Litia was admittedly in her head about the weeks ahead. But she put her fears on the back-burner and finally told Grant she’s falling in love with him. He told her the same and left with no doubt that she’d make an incredible wife and mother.
Dina Lupancu‘s Hometown Date Recap: Chosen Family FTW
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Dina’s Key Hometown Date Guests: A group of Dina’s friends, aka her chosen family.
For his last Hometown Date, Grant headed to Chicago to meet Dina and learn some disappointing news. Because her family is so traditional and her dad is an ordained deacon, they didn’t approve of Grant dating multiple women while also dating Dina and opted out of the Hometown Date, which visibly upset Grant. Though they didn’t approve of the process, Dina tried her best to assure Grant that if they ended up together he would eventually meet them.
They were both bummed out, but they headed to Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up for a cozy hang with a big group of Dina’s friends, who happily showed up for her. After a rom-com worthy date full of fall vibes, games, and a corn maze, Grant met Dina’s gal pals and answered all their burning questions. Grant said he loved Dina’s drive and was encouraged by the fact that she views a partnership as 50/50. “She’s a brilliant woman, she’s smart, she’s great, she’s beautiful. I feel like she’s emotionally there. I feel like we could push each other over the edge to really get to where we need to go,” he explained. Dina’s friends assured him that she has such a big heart and so much love to give, but could Grant move past her family’s absence?
Though Dina wanted her family’s blessing, she felt she could accept an engagement without it. The question for both her and Grant, however, was if their relationship could get there in time following the setback.
The Bachelor Episode 6 Rose Ceremony Recap: Who Went Home During Hometown Week?
Grant and his Final Four contestants headed back to Los Angeles, California for a rose ceremony. But first, the gals debriefed on their dates while Grant met up with Bachelor Season 28 lede Joey Graziadei for a beer and some words of wisdom.
As Dina heard how successful Juliana, Litia, and Zoe’s dates were and how much they enjoyed introducing Grant to their families, her anxiety began to spiral. Grant was dealing with anxieties of his own, so he asked Joey for some tips. As in tune with his emotions as ever, Joey thought back to his own Hometown Week and encouraged Grant to keep an open mind, take full advantage of off-camera time during overnights, and listen closely to his gut feelings. “I had that with Kelsey, and I really listened to that throughout, and it was a really important part of my whole journey on the show — paying attention to what I felt, and listening to it, and not always getting in my head about if it fits this mold or this picture that I had envisioned,” Joey said. (We miss you Joey!)
Grant’s greatest fear is that he ends up making the wrong decision, which is why he has such a tough time choosing between his final two women. So who went home? Grant gave Fantasy Suite stems to Litia, Juliana, and Zoe. He said goodbye to Dina and told her she was an amazing woman who taught him so much. Though she was heartbroken, she was relieved to know she didn’t have to get more attached to him before leaving.
In two weeks, the Dominican Republic and Fantasy Suite Week await, but next week, tune in for the The Women Tell All special.
New episodes of The Bachelor air Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
