Halle Berry and Adrien Brody shared a red carpet smooch that was so 2003.
Ahead of the 2025 Oscars, Berry surprised Brody with a kiss during his red carpet interview with Access Hollywood, 22 years after he planted one on her after she presented him with the Best Actor win for his performance in The Pianist.
“Surpriseee @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback,” Berry captioned a video of the moment on X.
After locking lips, the two shared a hug, as Berry said that she “had to pay him back.”
Berry assured Extra that Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman was “fine” with her kissing him. Chapman teased the outlet, “How can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?”
Following their Oscars kiss back in 2003, Brody had quipped, “I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag,” per Variety.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Brody had told Vanity Fair in 2015 that the kiss “was probably one of the most memorable moments ever.”
“You could say time slowed down,” he continued. “That was that moment where I really, really felt it slow down. In fact, it must have, because by the time I got finished kissing her, and people kinda settled in, they were already flashing the sign that said, ‘Get off the stage, your time is up.’”
Berry revealed on Watch What Happens Live in 2017 that the 2003 Oscars kiss “was not planned” and that she “knew nothing about it.”

While speaking with Variety for a Feb. 5 cover story, Brody acknowledged, “We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing. And nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad.”
Another of Brody’s red carpet interviews caught attention on Sunday night. While he was speaking with ABC, Rachel Sennott was mixed up with Rachel Zegler on the network’s chyron during their red carpet broadcast.
