Miley Cyrus is never one to shy away from a bold beauty look, so it’s no surprise that she went full out for the Oscars 2025 red carpet. After surprising everyone with a jellyfish haircut on the Grammys red carpet, Cyrus debuted new bleached brows for tonight’s ceremony. To complete the look, she wore sculpted long waves, bronzy eyes, and glossy nude lips.
As for her ensemble, Cyrus went classic in a sparkling black Alexander McQueen gown with a sheer train and black lace gloves. She accessorized with dangling silver earrings and a dainty silver ear cuff.
This isn’t the first time Cyrus bleached her brows. Back in 2014, she wore the edgy look on the cover of W magazine.
According to celebrity eyebrow specialist Joey Healy, bleached brows is yet another evolution of the ’90s and Y2K aesthetic. “People are looking backward as they are moving forward, and people are willing to take more risks these days,” Healy told Glamour. “It’s also a very fashion-focused look, and while it can be difficult to pull off, people are ready to take a bold stride and really step outside the box.”
He also says that the look was inspired by the runway, where it clearly still reigns supreme, and was pioneered by makeup artists like Kevyn Aucoin.
If Miley Cyrus is any indication, it’s safe to say that the bleached brows trend is here to stay.
