An Arizona girl finally got the hairstyle of her dreams, and the result has gone viral.
Inspired by her best friend’s bob, Reagan, 3, spent two months “begging” her mom, Shelby Ricardi, for a similar haircut.
Ricardi, 27, eventually said yes, confident that her daughter wouldn’t regret her choice. “She had been asking for it repetitively,” Ricardi told Newsweek, adding that she feared Reagan would cut her own hair after asking for a bob daily.
She documented the salon trip in a clip on TikTok, in which Reagan appears to be enjoying every moment of the process. “Her eyes were glued to herself in all the mirrors in the salon. She was excited start to finish knowing exactly what she was getting done,” Ricardi said.
In 2024, the bob became one of the most-wanted hairstyles. Google search volume data found that the “bubble bob” experienced a 1,300 percent increase in searches over the past year.
As suggested by Ricardi’s video, Reagan was delighted with her choice. She can be seen smiling from ear to ear at the final result and stepping out of the salon with a newfound confidence.
“After the haircut, she was so excited. She couldn’t stop touching her hair and staring at herself,” Ricardi said, adding that she told her dad how much she loved her new style.
On February 20, Ricardi posted the clip on TikTok under the username @shelbyricardi, and it has since gone viral, amassing more than 8 million views.
In the comments section, more than 8,000 users congratulated Reagan on her style choice.
“I love it when parents let kids do what they ask for. Look at the happiness on her face,” one viewer wrote.
Another added, “The walk off at the end was perfection!! Who is this Diva!?”
The popular video also attracted attention from big-name brands, including Pantene, Claire’s and Dove, while some users compared Reagan to a real-life American Girl doll.
Ricardi was overwhelmed by the reaction to her video. “The video’s reception has been overwhelmingly positive,” she said, adding about Reagan, “Her continued growth in confidence has been a source of inspiration for many [and] our entire family.”
“She knows exactly who she is,” a commenter wrote, while another said, “She will forever trust her instincts.”
