Hilaria Baldwin had no idea what Alec Baldwin was talking about when he proposed signing a prenuptial agreement.
The couple, who have been married since 2012, candidly reflected on their pre-wedding conversations during Sunday’s premiere of their reality TV show, “The Baldwins.”
“After my first marriage [to Kim Basinger], I said, ‘Let’s have a prenup.’ She wasn’t happy about it. It’s an awkward thing,” Alec, 66, recalled in a confessional.
Hilaria, 41, chimed in to admit she did “not understand quite what a prenup” was at the time.
“Because you are like, ‘After a certain number of kids, it’s this,’” she shared. “And I was like, ‘You know what? I’ll just sign it,’ which was probably very stupid of me back then.”
Hilaria added, “Now, I would read it again, but, like, I just said, ‘I won’t sign it. I don’t really want to think about the end by the beginning.’ And then you were like, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to do it either.’”
The “30 Rock” star and the former yoga instructor’s new TLC series gives fans a glimpse into their hectic life as they raise their seven kids: daughters Carmen, 11, María, 3, and Ilaria, 2, and sons Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, and Eduardo, 4.
Alec is also the father of daughter Ireland, 29, with Basinger, to whom he was married from 1993 to 2002.
“Telling your story is one thing, and showing your story is something else,” Hilaria told People earlier this month of the couple’s decision to do a reality show. “It felt authentic, it felt human. It felt very empowering.”
Alec and Hilaria infamously raised eyebrows when they began dating in 2011 because he was 52 and she was 27.
The actor proposed to the podcast host in 2012, just two months before they said “I do.”
“The Baldwins” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
