Shakira‘s concert in Medellín, Colombia has been postponed due to stage safety concerns. The news comes on the heels of a cancellation for a show in Lima, Peru last week due to the superstar singer’s hospitalization for an undisclosed “abdominal issue.”

Event organizers said there were safety concerns for the performance — set for Feb. 24 at Estadio Atanasio Girardot — after the roof of the stage installed by local production was damaged, per Billboard.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer announced the news yesterday on X in a statement in Spanish, writing that the decision was “out of my hands and those of my production team.”

“My Medellín people! It hurts me greatly to not be able to get up on stage and sing for you with the desire that I had,” she began. “My sons were excited to visit Medellín, as was I to be reunited with you and share all the surprises that I had prepared for you.”

The four-time Grammy winner continued, “I am very sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I am sure that we will soon find a new date to celebrate together. I am always grateful for the unconditional support you give me. I love you all very much and hope to see you all very soon.”

The performance in Medellín was the second in Shakira’s home country of Colombia, following a show a couple days prior held in her hometown of Barranquilla. The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour — named after her 12th studio album, which clinched Best Latin Pop Album at the 2025 Grammys — kicked off Feb. 11 and will traverse Latin and North America, wrapping in San Francisco June 30. In October, the tour was expanded with new dates and upgrades for some venues from arenas to stadiums due to demand.

Following her Feb. 16 cancellation at Lima’s Estadio Nacional, Shakira resumed the tour the following day with a scheduled second performance at the venue. In her initial announcement, the singer wrote that her team and the promoters are already working on a new show date for the prior concert: “Thank you all for your understanding. I love you so much,” she wrote, signing the note with “Shak.”
