William Byron, who secured the victory at the Daytona 500 last weekend, has set the record straight after reports of him flirting with Sabrina Carpenter on social media emerged.
William Byron drives for the well-regarded Hendrick Motorsports team. His consecutive Daytona 500 wins in 2024 and 2025 demonstrate his growing reputation in the sport and place him among just a few drivers who have managed such a feat.
As fans celebrated this achievement, a fake social media account posted an image that suggested Byron had left a flirty comment on Sabrina Carpenter’s Instagram post. The image was clearly a well-crafted joke, and Byron responded with humor on his own account.

Speaking about the incident in an interview, Byron seemed amused by the clever digital jest. Acknowledging the creators of the meme, Byron stated:
“They do a really good job with Photoshop nowadays,” Byron said with a laugh. “It was a good parody account — it’s like that NBA Centel account. They did a good job.”
Despite the post being fake, Byron used the opportunity to extend an offer to Carpenter to come to a NASCAR race. He added:
“Maybe we can get her out to a race or something, that would be great. Or I can get to a show. That would be fun.
“Her music’s pretty good!!”

Speaking about his most recent NASCAR win in Daytona, Byron reflected to the media, as quoted by AP News:
“Just trusted my instincts on the last lap there.
“I felt like they were getting squirrelly on the bottom, and I was honestly going to go third lane regardless because I was probably sixth coming down the back.”
He added:
“Just obviously fortunate that it worked out in our favor.
“Crazy. I can’t honestly believe that. But we’re here. So proud of it.”
