Warwick Davis, the British actor who has played various roles in the Star Wars franchise, got a tribute from Luke Skywalker himself as he was garlanded with BAFTA’s highest honor.

Mark Hamill described Davis as “one of the hardest working men in showbusiness” as he received the Fellowship prize at the BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday.

Hamill joked that Davis has more Star Wars credits than himself and that he followed up the mega-franchise with another in the shape of Harry Potter.

Davis was celebrated by BAFTA for his prolific career and role in creating a more inclusive screen industry. George Lucas was among others who paid tribute to Davis, saying he was a “great actor.”

An emotional Davis, who unexpectedly lost his wife last year, thanked his loved ones — including his children — for helping him learn to “laugh and love again.” He joked: “This is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me — and I’ve been in Star Wars.”

Tom Felton, who starred as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter, presented Davis with the award, revealing that the actor taught him his first spell at Hogwarts. He said that had learned from Davis to not “let being small stop you from dreaming big.”

Davis most notably played Ewok Wicket W. Warrick in Return of the Jedi, as well as featuring as Weazel in The Phantom Menace. The actor is also known for his work in Willow and Life’s Too Short, the TV comedy co-created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

The 2025 BAFTA Film Awards took place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London. Tennant is hosting for the second consecutive year. The rolling list of winners is here.
