Drag racing legend John Force has been a big name in the sport for decades. He was recently honored by being inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the John Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This special ceremony took place over the weekend, adding a Canadian accolade to his long list of achievements.
Known for his incredible racing career, John Force has made a huge impact on professional drag racing, having overcome many challenges including childhood poverty and polio, before becoming one of the greats in the sport with a record-breaking 157 wins in NHRA professional racing events.

Throughout his career, Force has stacked up many achievements against the competition and left a legacy that is difficult to match. At the Le Grandnational, he had an impressive 20-4 record, which included three victories and two runner-up titles out of his last seven appearances.
Being the first-ever drag racer to be recognized in the international category by Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame also speaks volumes. Force has certainly earned his place alongside international figures previously inducted, like Mario and Michael Andretti and Sir Jackie Stewart.
Despite facing a traumatic brain injury from a crash in Richmond last year, which, prevented John Force from attending the induction ceremony, he commented on the achievement via a video:
“I’m very proud to accept this honor along with the other 2024 inductees.
“It’s been a rough year and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in Canada for the ceremonies, but this is special to me because I won my first NHRA race in Canada. It may have been a long time ago, but I still remember.”

Force is still out of the racing seat whilst he continues his recovery from the 300 mph crash last year. Speaking to the media at the end of 2024, Force explained that Jack Beckman would be stepping in for him in 2025. He commented at the time:
“I’m still going to therapy every week and working as hard as I can to get back out there with the sponsors and the fans in a sport I love and I miss. I’ve still got a lot of things I want to do, so I don’t want anybody thinking they’ve seen the last of John Force. We’ll have a lot more to talk about after the holidays.”
