After being noticeably absent from a somewhat lean New York Fashion Week schedule, the Proenza Schouler team dropped its FW25 lookbook just two days after Thom Browne’s closing show. Mature, cozy, and academic, this collection represents the brand’s first step forward without co-creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at the helm.
The 31 look collection was shot in upstate New York by Tim Elkaïm and caters to classic Proenza Schouler sensibilities. Recalling fan favorites such as wool capes, elevated footwear, and tartan accented dresses, the lookbook also tapped veteran Proenza models like Binx Walton to enforce familiarity, signaling a feeling of business as usual as the brand moves forward without a creative director for the time being.
The duo, who co-founded the brand 22 years ago in New York City, officially departed on January 31 of this year, a mere week before the start of the FW25 season. It was previously reported that McCollough and Hernandez would stay on as minority shareholders and work closely with the CEO Shira Suveyke Snyder to find a replacement creative director to keep the design legacy alive.
When the news of their exit broke, Lauren Sherman of Puck News reported that the pair planned on taking over the creative direction duties at Loewe, replacing Jonathan Anderson. As of yet, no public confirmation has been made in regards to McCollough and Hernandez’s plans, nor has Anderson officially left Loewe.
Stay tuned for more news and collections as it’s made available, and while you wait, you can check out exclusive Polaroids of all your favorite celebrities at New York Fashion Week!
