Jason Kelce says he and Travis went months ‘without talking to each other’ before starting ‘New Heights’ podcast

Jason Kelce would go months without talking to his younger brother, Travis Kelce, before they launched their “New Heights” podcast.

“The best part of the podcast is just getting to talk to Trav,” Jason told Bustle in an interview published Tuesday. “Before we started the podcast, we would go months sometimes without talking to each other.”

He continued, “The podcast forces us once a week to sit down and talk to each other,”

The former Philadelphia Eagles player, 37, revealed that the show has brought him closer to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, after they spent so many years living in different states due to their NFL careers.

“We both have a lot going on in our lives, and it’s been fun — after all these years being in different cities and fighting to make it in the football landscape — to rekindle the amount of times that we talk and the closeness that we have growing up our entire lives,” he said.

Jason shared that his role as older brother is to be a cheerleader for Travis as opposed to a mentor.

“I try not to be too much of an advice person and more like a support person [for Travis],” Jason said. “If he asks me for stuff or my opinion on whatnot, I’ll be there for him.

He added, “I’ve never tried to tell him what to do or how to do things. I firmly believe you’ve got to go and learn that stuff for yourself and figure that out.”

The dynamic duo launched the Wondery+ podcast in September 2022 — nearly a year before Travis started dating Taylor Swift.

Jason definitely has more time on his hands since retiring from his 13-season NFL career with the Eagles in March 2024.

The “Monday Night Countdown” analyst was in the stands at the 2025 Super Bowl to cheer on his former teammates as well as Travis as the Chiefs took on the Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans Sunday.

Jason admitted that he was balancing “a lot of emotions” after the Chiefs lost to the Eagles with a final score of 40-22.

“That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest,” Jason wrote on X Tuesday.

“On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success,” he continued. “And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about, many of whom I owe my own success to throughout my career.”

Jason said that there isn’t a person that he loves or cares about more than Travis.

“It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity,” he wrote. “He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.”

Jason and Travis played against each other in the 2023 Super Bowl, with Travis helping lead the Chiefs to beat the Eagles 38-35. Travis has also earned Super Bowl rings in 2020 and 2024.
