Meghan Markle Shares Behind-The-Scenes Moments from the Invictus Games

Earlier this year, Meghan Markle made her return to Instagram after a five-year absence, posting her first video on her @meghan account on January 1. Now, Meghan is taking her camera behind the scenes at the Invictus Games—where she and Harry made their debut as a couple, in 2017.

On Saturday, the duchess revealed some footage of Harry dancing with members of Team Canada, and later shared scenes from a surprise appearance at a Team USA breakfast. In videos from both events, Meghan is shown speaking to competitors wearing a cream Rag & Bone sweater vest and trousers from Altuzarra. Saturday night, Meghan posed with Opening Games performer Nelly Furtado for a backstage selfie that included a brief cameo from Harry.

On Sunday, she shared a “storytime” reception for the children of competitors. Wearing an olive green sweater from Doên and a matching knit skirt from La Ligne (a brand launched by former Vogue editors), the duchess posed with children and spoke to the assembled group.

She also shared the moment when a few Invictus athletes from Australia gave Harry a tiny Speedo swimsuit. “And Team Australia, you’ve done it again!” she wrote as a caption, referencing a moment in 2018 when one competitor from Australia asked Harry to sign his Speedo. This time around, the prince reacted warmly to the gift. “So inappropriate! I love it,” he said. “Thank you so much.”

When Meghan returned to social media with a New Year’s Day video taken on a beach near their Montecito home, the account launch came after she met with executives at Meta, Instagram’s parent company, to discuss ways that the app could be made safer and thwart online bullying and abuse.

Ever since he helped to found the Invictus Games for wounded service members in 2014, Prince Harry has remained a founding patron with the Invictus Foundation. Meghan has also been a consistent presence at the Games and their related events, and in May 2024, she joined Harry on a trip to Nigeria to support the Games, where they met with the county’s defense minister as well as competing athletes.
