The extraction shooter Outlawed is almost here, and Okami Studio is offering a first look at its gameplay through a technical playtest on Steam.
Outlawed throws players into a high-stakes urban battleground, where they’ll battle rival gangs, navigate challenging environments, and execute daring evacuations. It’s a player-versus-player-versus environment game from Singapore-based Okami Studio.
The playtest will feature customizable skins, epic boss fights, and dynamic vehicle mechanics. The playtest will be available to players in North America and China, with 5,000 slots per region. The playtest will begin on 4 p.m. Pacific time on February 13.
This is a technical playtest, and the experience is not yet fully optimized; players should expect some bugs and incomplete features as the development team continues to refine the game.
The technical playtest will be available exclusively through Steam Playtest, and access will be granted to players located in North America and China only.
Outlawed’s PvPvE action is set in a sprawling, crime-ridden urban environment. This online multiplayer game pits up players against each other in squads of three on a massive urban map teeming with rival gangs. Whether teaming up with friends or venturing solo, players will need strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking to overcome challenges and make their escape.
In addition to the core gameplay, the playtest introduces new features like customizable player skins, challenging boss fights, and new vehicles with vehicle evacuation options, allowing for even more dynamic gameplay.
In the playtest, you’ll work with your squad to fight rival teams and gang forces while scavenging valuable resources. Timed evacuations are crucial to securing your loot and surviving the chaos. You can explore a massive 10-square-kilometer cityscape with diverse terrains, including urban centers, suburbs, highways, mountains, and rivers. Use the environment to gain the upper hand in combat.
Players can modify over 30 weapon types, personalize your loadouts, and choose from a range of tactical gear such as drones, airstrikes, and medkits to adapt to each encounter. And they can drive a variety of land and water-based vehicles for fast travel or engage in combat from a new vantage point. Players can also zip lines and parachutes for high-mobility navigation across the map.
