Seal officially freaked everyone out at the Super Bowl in a matter of seconds. The musician paired up with Mountain Dew for a trippy commercial that aired during the big game in which his head was imposed on a seal’s body to make him look like, well, a seal. Yup, Seal as a seal.

In the ad, titled “Kiss From A Lime” in a play on Seal’s 1994 hit “Kiss From A Rose,” someone offers singer Becky G a Mountain Dew Baja Blast, which she drinks, then is transported onto a speed boat in the middle of tropical waters.

There, she’s told the beverage is “kissed by the perfect amount of tropical lime,” when all of a sudden, the opening notes of “Kiss From A Rose” play and we see Seal sunning himself on a rock with a bunch of other seals, where he sings about Baja Blast Mountain Dew and how sad he is not to be able to hold onto it with flippers.

The internet proved to be pretty divided over the weird bit, with some appalled after seeing the human-seal hybrid and other entertained by what they thought was a clever concept.

One wrote, “omg, words cannot express how much I dislike that Mountain Dew Seal ad. An abomination of advertising…and Seal.”

Another tweeted, “just imagining the meeting where dude says ‘okay, it’s not just a seal…it’s *seal*!’” while one more wondered, “How did it take us 25+ years to do a commercial with Seal as a seal?”

Lol, Making Seal a seal made me laugh but its a bad commercial. pic.twitter.com/0zyZ5MX6Z2

In the impressed corner of Twitter, one wrote, “Ima be honest #Seal as a seal was the best thing I’ve seen so far.”

Another tweeted, “That Seal commercial may be the best thing I see in all of 2025. Kudos to #Seal and #MountainDew.”

Super Bowl LIX is airing tonight, Feb. 9, on FOX, FOX Deportes, NFL+ and Tubi.
