A petcam video of the moment a 7-month-old puppy wasn’t acknowledged by his owner has melted hearts online.
In a video shared by owner Olivia Bamford, who lives in the U.K., the footage captured the moment Joey was eagerly waiting attention from his human dad—only to be unintentionally ignored.
The clip, taken from a petcam, shows the moment Joey’s dad walked past him in the kitchen without acknowledging the excited pup.
Joey, toy in mouth, looked crestfallen as he realized he wasn’t going to be greeted by his owner. The heartbreaking moment resonated with viewers, accumulating 1.5 million views and thousands of comments.
The text overlay read: “When dad came down and didn’t acknowledge the puppy who was so happy to see him.” In the caption, Bamford said: “I cried.”
Despite concerned comments from viewers, Bamford reassured everyone that Joey received plenty of affection.
“We were just going to bed after letting him out and playing with him, so dad was making a cup of tea and didn’t notice Joey getting excited as he’d just put him to bed,” Bamford told Newsweek. “I was watching it live from upstairs on the petcam feed and was getting really upset watching the puppy get all excited while not getting any fuss.”
As soon as he came back upstairs, Bamford showed her partner the footage, and he felt so bad he ran back down to give him plenty of cuddles.
“I thought it was an emotional rollercoaster that others would understand how it made me feel watching it happen,” Bamford said. “But don’t worry, he got loads of cuddles and fuss after and always does.”
The video sparked a wave of reactions, viewer Heidi said: “This literally broke my heart.”
