Following Chitose Abe‘s Sacai FW25 runway presentation in Paris, the eclectic Japanese label has announced a new collaborative capsule with Tetsu Nishiyama‘s WTAPS. Returning for the first time since their 2023 capsule, the new pieces continue exploring similar military themes with a more sartorial edge.
For men, a gray double-breasted two-piece suit is given Sacai’s reworked treatment, while WTAPS’ tactical sensibilities are present through patch pockets on the jacket breasts and the trousers. The women’s geared look feels even more in line with WTAPS visual language, taking the form of a cropped work jacket and shorts, covered with various-sized cargo pockets. In addition to the gray colorways depicted in the images, the partners will release limited khaki colorways of the pieces.
The new collection comprises five men’s and five women’s pieces that fuse styles from both brands, accompanied by unisex hoodies, t-shirts, and co-branded caps, which will be unveiled on the release date. Each piece will be embroidered with a special detail only found on WTAPS’ MIL line.
Sacai and WTAPS’s latest project is a more complex evolution from their first collaboration, which centered on an army green bomber-esque shirt and six-pocket trousers. While tying together Sacai’s collaged aesthetic with WTAPS’ tactical elements, the new two-piece suit puts its stamp on the rise of fusion office attire and “corpcore.”
The latest collaborative collection from Sacai and WTAPS will be released online and in-store on February 7.
