Pete Davidson is ready for his mom to start dating.

On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the Saturday Night Live alum opened up about his mom’s love life — and why he’s ready for her to find a man.

“At first, I was nervous because I didn’t want someone to bang my mom. It’s terrifying,” he said.

According to Davidson, his mom hasn’t dated anyone since his father, who was a firefighter, died while serving during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

“She’s never dated. It’s been 22, 23 years since my dad passed. She never dated,” Davidson said. “And when I asked her, she was like, ‘That’s my guy.’ And that’s so sad. But now I think she’d like to have a partner and someone to hang out with so I don’t have to do it so much.”

Host Drew Barrymore wondered if Davidson assumed his mom was dating before had that conversation with her, to which he replied, “I thought she was just a great mom and hiding it.”

Barrymore, who hasn’t dated anyone since divorcing her kids’ dad in 2016, understood that sentiment, telling Davidson, “That’s what us moms would do. I think it would take a very long time for me to introduce someone to the kids, but I also haven’t really dated anyone seriously enough.”

However, Davidson’s Dog Man co-star Lil Rel Howery hilariously reminded Barrymore that the difference between her situation and the comedian’s is that the latter is “an adult,” while her kids are still young. “He’s in his 30s!” Howery exclaimed.

“He feels little in that sense of she would hide it from him because you don’t want to rock the boat,” Barrymore said.

“And to be fair, I’m a very easily rockable boat. So I think she’s very careful,” Davidson, now in hysterics, added, seemingly referring to his borderline personality disorder and several stints in rehab.

Still, Barrymore doubled down that it’s always “confusing” for single moms to “bring someone into the dynamic.”

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
