Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky has unveiled a brand new campaign with Hollywood star, Harrison Ford. Known for his high-profile roles in the Star Wars franchise, while more recently appearing in hit series such as the critically acclaimed Shrinking, Ford is now turning his attention to the alcohol industry as he brings his dry, yet hilarious humor to a series of episodic films directed by actor and film-maker, Joel Edgerton.

Ford features in Glenmorangie Highland’s new campaign titled “Once Upon a Time in Scotland,” and it takes us behind the scenes as Harrison Ford journeys to Glenmorangie’s Highland home, discovering the skill and craftsmanship that goes into making each bottle of whisky. “I had the best time,” Ford said when reflecting on his experience in the Highlands. “I had not anticipated what it would be like to be in Scotland, but what was really interesting to me is that you go to Scotland and you just say goodbye to wherever you were, because you’re in Scotland.”

Additionally, the campaign sees the actor enjoy an authentic Scottish experience. He experienced everything; from “getting to grips with the nuances of Scottish pronunciation,” to wearing kilts and getting to know the locals over a dram of single malt — and it was all shot in an “unconventional, deliberately off-script style.”

“It was a strong idea and we stuck to it,” Ford said. “We had lots of opportunities to noodle around with it. Nobody stopped us. Which I imagine is pretty rare in the world that we’re working in. My father used to be in advertising, and I remember how bureaucratic it all is. I think it’s a tribute to Glenmorangie’s sensibilities that they let us be less than totally serious. Credit to them for letting us play. I think it’s fun to not be as structured as a commercial.

The campaign was captured around the historic distillery in Tain where Glenmorangie has been created for over 180 years, while it also travels to the storied 19th century Ardross Castle, and the dramatic landscapes surrounding Loch Glass. Ford is also joined by the real Glenmorangie distillery team — who embraced their first experience of acting under the guidance of Ford — while the brand’s flagship whiskies, Glenmorangie Original 12 Years Old and Glenmorangie Infinita 18 Years Old, are captured front and center.

“I thought the Glenmorangie distillery team were all great,” Ford added. “It’s more fun to see the texture and the imperfection of things than to just have everything glossy and smooth. Everything we went to do turned out to be full of unanticipated joys.”

Take a closer look at the new campaign above.
