Alyssa Farah Griffin gave a rare compliment to President Donald Trump on this morning’s episode of The View.

The Republican co-host, who worked for Trump before resigning from his administration in 2020, told her fellow co-hosts that she was “struck” by Democrats’ inability to name a “clear leader” in light of Trump’s return to the White House.

“Give them a minute!” Joy Behar chimed in, to which Griffin replied, “I don’t know how much time they’re gonna have.”

Griffin also took aim at the party’s lack of a “clear plan, strategy, and message.”

“I think the closest thing to a message is kind of who they’re gonna go after other than just, ‘Trump is bad. Trump is bad,’” she said.

While Griffin thought it was “smart” for former president Joe Biden to identify “oligarchs and the tech-industrial complex” as the “enemy” in his farewell speech, she said that type of talk was the reason Democrats lost the 2024 election.

“No one talks like that. No one in the union hall talks about the corporate oligarchs and the tech-industrial complex. You need to talk like a real human being,” she said. “For all the criticisms I have of Donald Trump, he speaks like real people speak. ‘They’re taking advantage of you, they’re ripping you off.’ They’re not using that kind of language.”

Behar then quipped, “He speaks like an annoying person would speak.”

However, Sunny Hostin disagreed with Griffin, pointing out that Minority Leader of the House Hakeem Jeffries is the Democrats’ leader, and “he talks real talk.”

“I have a completely different take on this. I think the Democrats are actually falling in line instead of fighting with each other,” Hostin said. “We just saw the Democrats, many, many Democrats, cross the aisle and work with Republicans on the Laken Riley Act. And that act is basically going to allow undocumented migrants, immigrants, to be deported even if they are accused of a crime.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
