Kim Jones is set to receive the French Legion of Honor award on Friday, January 24, becoming a Knight as he receives France’s highest civilian decoration.
As per WWD, the ceremony will take place on Friday, January 24 after his Dior Men’s Winter 2025 show in Paris. “This prestigious recognition honors the talent, passion and commitment of the artistic director of Dior men’s lines,” Dior said in a statement.
The English designer told WWD, “I was shocked, actually. When I got the letter, I cried. It’s very nice, because it’s celebrating your work and achievements.” He continued, “It’s something you never even think you’ll get. I don’t think many foreign people get them and I think it’s a real compliment.”
Condé Nast’s Anna Wintour will present the award to Jones at the ceremony. “She was very sweet. She completely changed her schedule to come and do it,” he said. “Anna’s a tour de force of getting things done and supporting people and so it’s really wonderful to get it from her. She’s been very, very supportive of me and I think she’s an amazing woman.”
Jones revealed that he’s “a bit lost for words” as he was trying to write his speech, further sharing that it was incredibly fulfilling to be recognized by France for his work at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton; prior to his current stints at Fendi womenswear and Dior Homme, he served as artistic director of Louis Vuitton Men’s for seven years.
