Nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were revealed on Thursday, with Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott reading off the highly-anticipated news at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
While “Emilia Pérez” walked away with the most nominations (13, to be exact), “Wicked” and “The Brutalist” followed closely behind with 10 nominations each.

Plot: This Sean Baker-directed modern Cinderella story follows dancer Ani (Mikey Madison) during her whirlwind marriage to the young son of a Russian oligarch (Mark Eydelshteyn).
Other nominations: In addition to the night’s top prize, it’s also up for best director, best actress (Madison), best-supporting actor (Yura Borisov), best original screenplay and best film editing.
Streaming: While it’ll eventually head to Hulu, “Anora” is currently available to buy or rent on Prime Video.
“The Brutalist”
Plot: Brady Corbet’s sprawling over-3.5-hour long epic — the first major movie with an intermission since 1982’s “Gandhi” — follows Jewish architect Laszlo Toth (Adrien Brody) as he faces a harrowing journey emigrating to the US post-World War II.
Other nominations: It’s tied for the second most-nominated film of this year’s ceremony, with nods for best director, best actor (Brody), best-supporting actor (Guy Pearce), best-supporting actress (Felicity Jones), best original screenplay, best original score, best film editing, best cinematography and best production design.
Streaming: While the film is currently only available in theaters, it’ll eventually stream on Max.
Plot: Timothée Chalamet stars as Bob Dylan in a biopic charting the music icon’s burgeoning career in early-1960s NYC.
Other nominations: In addition to Chalamet’s nod for best actor — which makes him the youngest two-time nominee since James Dean — the film is up for best director, best-supporting actor (Edward Norton), best-supporting actress (Monica Barbaro), best-adapted screenplay, best costume design and best sound.
Streaming: While the movie is still in theaters, it will likely come to video-on-demand services soon, followed by Hulu.
Plot: Based on Robert Harris’s novel of the same name, “Conclave” is a scandal-filled drama set in the Vatican City, where fictional Catholic cardinals are gathering to elect a new pope.
Other nominations: In addition to best picture, the film is up for best actor (Ralph Fiennes), best supporting actress (Isabella Rossellini), best-adapted screenplay, best film editing, best production design, best costume design and best original score.
Streaming: “Conclave” is currently streaming on Peacock — and available to buy or rent on Prime Video.
Plot: Timothée Chalemet and Zendaya star in this follow-up to Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster 2021 film, which sees Paul Atreides (Chalamet) uniting with the Fremen people to fight House Harkonnen.
Other nominations: The popular sci-fi thriller’s also up for best cinematography, best production design, best sound and best visual effects.
Streaming: In addition to streaming on Max and Netflix, the much-awaited sequel is currently available to rent or buy on Prime Video.
Plot: After taking home the jury prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Jacques Audiard’s drama is leading the pack at the Oscars. The operatic musical tells the story of a lawyer (Zoe Saldaña) who helps a Mexican cartel leader undergo gender-affirming surgery.
Other nominations: The film’s nominations include a best actress nod for Karla Sofía Gascón, making her the first openly trans actor ever nominated for an Oscar. As the most-nominated film this year, the French-made movie is also up for best director, best supporting actress (Zoe Saldaña), best international feature film, best original song (for both “El Mal” and “Mi Camino”), best film editing, best cinematography, best sound and best makeup and hairstyling.
Streaming: The film is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
Plot: Based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s 2015 memoir, “I’m Still Here” sees Eunice Paiva (Fernanda Torres) fighting to learn the truth behind the disappearance of her husband, former congressman Rubens Paiva, during the military dictatorship in 1970s Brazil.
Other nominations: Fernanda Torres is up for best actress, and the Walter Salles-directed flick is also nominated for best international feature film.
Streaming: “Im Still Here” is only available in theaters right now.
Plot: This film adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel follows Elwood (Ethan Herisse) and Turner (Brandon Wilson), both sentenced to attend the brutal titular reformatory school in 1960s Florida.
Other nominations: The RaMell Ross-directed film is also up for best adapted screenplay.
Streaming: “Nickel Boys” is currently only showing in theaters.
Plot: This buzzy body horror flick kicks off as Elizabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore) gets fired from her aerobics TV show on her 50th birthday. In response, she takes a black market drug designed to produce a younger version of herself (Margaret Qualley) — with surprising side effects.
Other nominations: On the heels of her headline-making Golden Globes win, Demi Moore is up for best actress at the Oscars. “The Substance” is also nominated for best director, best original screenplay and best makeup and hairstyling.
Streaming: The film is currently available to buy or rent on Prime Video.
Plot: Based on the famous musical by the same name, this blockbuster hit chronicles the friendship between the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, well before Dorothy ever set foot in the land of Oz.
Other nominations: The Academy is holding space for “Wicked.” The film’s leads Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are up for best actress and best supporting actress, respectively. Additionally, the film scored nods for best original score, best production design, best costume design, best film editing, best sound, best visual effects and best makeup and hairstyling.
