Ana Navarro did not mince her words on this morning’s episode of The View, where she ripped into House Speaker Mike Johnson for defending President Donald Trump‘s decision to pardon roughly 1,500 of his supporters who were charged in connection to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Building.
Navarro began by defending the police officers who were present on that fateful afternoon in 2021, noting that more than 140 officers were injured and five ultimately died.
“Imagine what police officers who stood up that day are feeling today knowing that the President of the United States does not have their back,” she said. “He has the back of his supporters who attacked them, who caused the death of some of their colleagues.”
Navarro continued, “This is outrageous. And I don’t care how pro-Trump you are, I don’t care how Republican you are. You have a choice. This is not about right and left. This is about right and wrong.”
The Republican co-host applauded the “very few” members from her party who “stood up and criticized” Trump’s decision, specifically naming Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford, and North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis.
However, Navarro wasted no time blasting Johnson, who said he wouldn’t “second-guess” Trump’s decision to pardon those who stormed the Capitol.
“[He was] making all sorts of the most lame excuses,” Navarro fumed. “I just don’t know how you stand up without a spine. It’s got to be very very difficult.”
While Joe Biden also raised eyebrows by pardoning his entire family, Navarro explained why the two situations are different.
“Joe Biden did that on the last day. Trump is doing this on day one,” she said. “We have four years left of this and the reason he’s doing it is because he can. Because there are no guardrails.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
