Dior has confirmed that it will take its Pre-Fall 2025 runway show to Kyoto, Japan, continuing its traveling presentation strategy, which brought the French house to Seoul, Mumbai and New York.

According to WWD, the show will take place Kyoto’s ancient To-ji Temple and Gardens on April 15. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, the historic temple was established in 796 to serve as one of the two “guardian temples” protecting what used to be the national capital and home of the imperial court.

Doubling down on its continued focus on the Asia Pacific region, the brand said in a statement provided to WWD that the show would offer “a tribute to the passion for this fascinating country cultivated by Christian Dior and his successors”, reflecting “a new chapter at the convergence of tradition and reinvention”.

Largely associated with defining the post-war Western fashion sensibility with his “New Look,” Christian Dior’s Japanese inspirations are a lesser-known side of the French designer’s story. Women’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri said “In the early 1950s, Christian Dior began collaborating with a Kyoto-based silk workshop: he subsequently designed a series of looks for his haute couture collection which he cut in the precious Japanese textile.”

“The cradle of exclusive craftsmanship honed by generations of gifted artisans, the city offers a unique context to reignite some of these creative exchanges and to present my upcoming fall 2025 collection,” she continued.

Stay tuned to Hypebeast for updates on the forthcoming collection and live coverage of coming fashion weeks.
