While many brands, East and West, have dropped Year of the Snake capsules ahead of the Lunar New Year, LỰU ĐẠN wants to approach its celebratory capsule differently.
In response to the widespread appropriation of the cultural holiday (celebrated not only in China but across the Asian diaspora), founder Hung La reclaim the festivity by leaning into the authentic mythology of the zodiac animal. Fittingly, the Yanwei, a mythological Chinese snake, already has a presence in LỰU ĐẠN’s lexicon, which pulls elements from the founder’s Vietnamese heritage.
The 10-piece capsule is led by a faux Python 3-piece set comprising a jacket, a vest, and flared trousers. A matching belt with an oversized silver snake buckle and a python-printed button-up complete the look for a bold head-to-toe number. Elsewhere a red-and-black cobra image covers the front and back of straight-leg jeans and a colorized version of the image appears on a sleeveless tee, complete with a backside graphic.
Reminiscent of retro movie posters, a duo of graphic tees are printed with “Silent Threat” and a double-headed Yanwei snake creeping from behind. The cross-cultural graphics also appear on an oversized hoodie reprising the “Silent Threat” imagery. accompanied by Chinese text and zodiac years in various placements.
LỰU ĐẠN’s full Lunar New Year 2025 collection is available now at the brand’s web store and select retailers.
